Once upon a time, in a world far, far away, there lived a little girl named Lily. She loved nothing more than spending time with her parents and playing with her toys. She was always full of energy but her parents knew that when night time came around, she had to go to bed.
One night, Lily's mom told her a bedtime story about a magical kingdom in the clouds above. "Mummy, is that true?" Lily asked wide-eyed.
"Yes darling, it is true," her mom replied with a smile. "The kingdom is ruled by the kind and just Queen Angelica who keeps watch over all the people in her kingdom."
"Can we visit the kingdom, Mummy?" Lily asked, her eyes shining with excitement.
"Of course, we can," her mom replied. "But we have to follow the rules of the kingdom and be kind to everyone we meet."
Lily cuddled up with her favorite stuffed animal and fell asleep dreaming of the magical kingdom in the clouds.
As Lily slept, she found herself in the midst of the kingdom's bustling city streets. She could hear the sound of trumpets and drums and see people in brightly colored clothes singing and dancing. She looked around, taking in the sights and smells and felt the breeze ruffle her hair.
Suddenly a bright, glowing light flew gracefully towards her. "Hello, little one," the light said in a smooth voice. "I am the messenger of Queen Angelica. She heard about your wish to visit her kingdom and has asked me to take you to her palace."
Lily was so excited that she almost couldn't contain herself. The messenger gently took her by the hand and flew with her above the city, pointing out all the wondrous things the kingdom had to offer.
They landed gracefully in front of the palace gates which opened smoothly with a creak. The messenger led Lily down a long hallway, filled with portraits of all the past queens of the kingdom. At the end of the hallway was a large room decorated with a simple yet elegant chandelier and beautiful curtains.
Queen Angelica was there to greet her and Lily bowed respectfully. "Hello, little one," the queen said in a kind voice. "I am so happy that you came to visit my kingdom. What would you like to do?"
Lily wasn't sure what to say as she was in awe of the queen's grandeur. Queen Angelica noticed her hesitation and smiled gently. "It's okay, dear. You can tell me anything and we'll make it happen."
It took no time for Lily to feel comfortable around the Queen and she soon began to tell her about the toys she liked to play with, the stories she liked to hear and the pets she wished she owned.
Queen Angelica listened intently and with a sparkle in her eye, she said, "Well my dear Lily, I think I can make your wishes come true."
The Queen led Lily to a chamber filled with all her favorite toys and gave her ownership of them. They played for hours until Lily began to yawn and say goodnight.
The Queen instructed her to close her eyes and when she opened them, she would be in bed, surrounded by the same magical toys and creatures she played with in her dream.
Lily opened her eyes and rubbed the sleep from them. She looked around and noticed her room now had some of the toy characters she played with in the kingdom. She would never forget her magical dream and was truly grateful for it. She hugged her stuffed toy tightly and happily drifted back to sleep.
From then on, whenever Lily's parents told her bedtime stories, she would think back to her dream and wonder if it would come true again.
